What is an E-Tran?
A RealLegal E-Transcript™, E-Tran for short, is a self-contained, encrypted viewing program for transcripts used by more than 70 percent of the court reporting industry to provide attorneys with a high-performance, standardized, secure electronic transcript.
Once court reporters import their ASCII files into the software, they can activate full-text searching, condensed printing (Minu’s), utilize multiple saving options such as AMICUS, SUMMATION & ASCII’s (standard text files).
Password protection is also available for an encrypted work product. Attorneys receive the finished E-Transcript file, with the popular E-Transcript Viewer embedded or separate, via e-mail, CD-ROM, floppy diskette, or within a RealLegal Publisher bundle.
ASCII stands for American Standard Code for Information Interchange. This is a standard format that any and all word processors should be able to read. When viewed, a page image ASCII should look just like the printed transcript. You can also import this into almost any program, i.e. Livenote, Summation, Concordance, Word, WordPerfect, etc.
